Own a genuine piece of our Solar System with this authentic specimen of Hammadah al Hamra 346 (HaH 346), a remarkably fresh Ordinary Chondrite (L6) recovered in the Libyan desert following a spectacular fireball observed in August 2018.
This meteorite is considered a possible recent fall, as hundreds of fresh stones displaying pristine black fusion crust were discovered shortly after the widely witnessed fireball. The exceptional state of preservation, classified as Weathering Grade W0, indicates virtually no terrestrial alteration, making these meteorites highly desirable for collectors and researchers alike.
The specimen retains its characteristic matte black fusion crust, formed as the meteorite passed through Earth's atmosphere at tremendous speed. Many specimens also display beautifully developed regmaglypts ("thumbprints"), one of the most recognizable features of freshly fallen meteorites.
Petrographic analysis classifies HaH 346 as an L6 Ordinary Chondrite, composed primarily of equilibrated olivine and pyroxene together with iron-nickel metal, troilite, chromite, feldspar, and other minerals that formed during the earliest history of our Solar System approximately 4.56 billion years ago.
