Information
An exceptional and uncommon trilobite fossil of Ptychopyge sp., collected from the Lower Ordovician Huk Formation (Lysaker Member) at Slemmestad, Buskerud, Norway. Measuring approximately 5 cm, this specimen displays a remarkably circular body outline, an unusual morphology that makes it unlike typical Ptychopyge specimens.
To our knowledge, this distinctive form has not yet been formally described in the scientific literature, making it a particularly intriguing specimen for collectors and researchers alike.
Ptychopyge trilobites lived in the warm Scandinavian seas of the Lower Ordovician, approximately 470–450 million years ago. Well-preserved Norwegian specimens are increasingly difficult to obtain, especially those exhibiting unusual morphology and exceptional preservation.
This fossil has been carefully prepared in our workshop, with meticulous attention devoted to preserving every possible original surface detail and anatomical feature. The preparation enhances both the scientific value and aesthetic beauty of the specimen while maintaining its natural integrity.
An outstanding museum-quality cabinet specimen, ideal for advanced collectors, research collections, or exhibition.
